Privacy

The short version: tolerance doesn't collect any personal information while you play. There are no accounts, no ads, and no cookies or third-party scripts in the games. Your progress stays on your device, and the only thing sent anywhere is anonymous information about each round you play, which can't be linked back to you. The one exception is the contact form, which uses Google reCAPTCHA once you start writing a message.

What's stored on your device

tolerance uses your browser's local storage to remember a few things between visits. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us.

  • Your scores for each day's puzzles, used for your results and streaks.
  • Whether you've turned sounds off.
  • Whether you prefer light or dark mode.

This storage is only used to provide the game you're playing, so it doesn't need your consent. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Doing so resets your scores and streaks.

Anonymous gameplay statistics

When you finish a round, the site sends a small anonymous record of it so we can see how hard each game is and share interesting stats. Each record includes:

  • Which game, day, level and mode, your score, and how far off you were.
  • The correct answer and your answer, how long the round took, and how many replays and adjustments you made.
  • Rough context: phone, tablet or desktop, mouse or touch, the hour of day, your country, and your sound and theme settings.
  • Rough ranges for how many days you've played and your current streak (for example "2 to 7 days").

Records contain no name, account, cookie or device identifier, and we don't store your IP address. Your country is worked out from your connection and only the country is kept. Nothing is stored on or read from your device to do this.

Contact form

If you send a message through the contact page, it's emailed to the developer along with your name if you gave one and the country your connection comes from. It isn't used for anything else, isn't shared, and isn't added to any mailing list. Don't include anything in a message you'd rather keep private.

To keep spam out, the form uses Google reCAPTCHA. It only loads once you start writing a message, so just visiting the contact page loads nothing from Google. Once loaded, Google may set cookies and collect information about your device and how you use the page, under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. No other page uses it.

Hosting

Like any website, our hosting provider may briefly process standard technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't use this to identify or track you.

Support link

The "Buy me a coffee" link opens Ko-fi, a separate website with its own privacy policy. Nothing is shared with Ko-fi unless you choose to support there, and tolerance never sees your payment details.

Changes

If tolerance ever collects anything beyond what's described here, this page will be updated first, and you'll be asked for consent wherever the law requires it.
